Coming to a cell phone near you…

April 11, 2012

For a writer, there is nothing quite like seeing your words in hardcover. But for most writers, publication in print remains a dream.  Online publishing–through downloads–and cell phone novels are just two innovative ways for authors to get their work to readers. Recently, Russell Smith published a short non-fiction work for sale via Kobo for $1.99. So far, it is selling well.

Cell phone novels started in Japan, but are popping up around the world. The primary creators and readers of this format are–you guessed it–teenage girls. According to Wikipedia, the top selling cell phone novel in the U.S. is Secondhand Memories.
